Books

Books have shaped my existence.
Pop-up books helped establish a link
Between the object and the idea;
Then, a world of enchanted magic
Came to life in French Fairy Tales,
So much more attractive than
The drab and gloomy reality;
Fairy tales came from France,
Germany, England, and Denmark.
But since I was reading them in French,
I assumed that they were all written
By Frenchmen. Who was Andersen?
Well, a Frenchman, of course! I misbelieved.
While influencing my growing mind,
Books offered me an international
Scope of ideas, logic, and moral values.
Providing answers to never-ending questions,
Books were the mentors, the source of a
Philosophy of life that made me who I am;
Books have never left my side...
